March 2018 Newsletter

We are so lucky to live in a neighborhood surrounded by fabulous restaurants and bars. We know that our area’s charm and walkability are some of it’s biggest attractors. Unfortunately, this lends to some wreckless and dangerous behavior. You may notice in the Constable Activity Report that there were 12 Traffic Stops, approximately half of them occur between 12:00 – 2:00 a.m. when patrons are heading home, and 1 DWI arrest, occurring around 2:00 a.m. Fortunately for us, our deputies are on the lookout for any suspicious behavior; keeping our streets safe, not just for us, but for our visitors as well. The ability of our deputies to arrest and detain or simply hand out warnings is vital to our safety and security – even when we are sleeping soundly in our beds.

Spring Break is just around the corner!
If you are heading out of town, don’t forget to sign up for Vacation Watch. It’s 60 seconds of your time, for a week’s worth of peace.

General Update: There were 21 incidents in our neighborhoods, 19-Thefts from Vehicles, 1-Theft of Vehicle, 1-Theft, and 1-Assault with a Deadly Weapon. We cannot stress enough the importance of locking car doors and removing valuables from parked vehicles. If you know or see someone you are familiar with parking on your street, politely remind them to lock up. It’s only a matter of time before they become a victim! July 2017 Newsletter

We hope everyone had a happy and safe FOURTH
OF JULY! We have few updates concerning the Mandell Winlow Security Foundation & the Constable Patrol Program as well as our Crime Map and Activity Report for the month of June.

We’re excited to show off some new stats demonstrating the success of the Constable Patrol Program! We gathered information from HPD, Crime Reports, and the Constable’s office so you can see how effective the Program has been since it’s inception just a couple of years ago. Significant contributions have been made to the overall safety and security in our community. Burglaries, car break-ins and all types of crime were on the rise before the program was implemented, but now we’re seeing these same crime rates go down!

General Update: We had quite a spike in criminal activity compared to last month. Unfortunately this is expected in the summer months due to warmer weather. Crooks can move around more comfortably after the cold season recedes and some youthful lawbreakers have more time on their hands when school is on a break. There were a total of 10 reported crimes, including 2 home break-ins, 2 thefts of vehicles and one assault with a weapon. We should all be extra diligent in securing our homes, property, and vehicles.
