Happy New Year!
We hope everyone in our neighborhoods and community had a safe and happy holiday season and will continue to do so in 2018.

Our neighborhoods, like those surrounding us, will always be very attractive for criminals seeking crimes of opportunity. Yet, we have seen a steady decline in criminal activity since the start of the Constable Patrol Program in 2015. The presence of the deputies, their community involvement, and their commitment to ensuring our safety and security has been the biggest deterrent. However, you and your neighbor’s involvement is also needed. Please join our efforts in maintaining security.

  • Lock your cars and remove valuables.
  • Lock your home doors.
  • Keep your garage and/or gates closed.
  • Turn on an exterior light.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the constable – 713-755-7628. (Program the Constable’s number in your phone for easy access.)
  • Participate in Vacation Watch.
  • Look out for your neighbors.
  • If you haven’t already, join the Constable Patrol Program!

We, the board of MWSF, commit to ensuring this is a safe year in our community and hope you will join us.

Request from Constable Rosen:

Unusual attempt to return a cell phone to its owner………We rec’vd a call on January 3rd from Copper Mountain looking to return a cell phone to its owner. The cell is locked but it had a blue “Alan Rosen” sticker on the back which has our dispatch number so it has to be someone that is known in some manner to our Office. We’re reaching out to you since you are very connected to your residents and may know someone who is currently in Colorado. The cell phone was left and found on the 3rd, so if you know anyone who is vacationing at Copper Mountain, can you please try to contact them so they can retrieve the cell phone.

General Update: HPD Reported crimes for December were extremely low especially when factoring in the holiday season! There were only 3 total incidents in our neighborhoods – 2 Thefts from Vehicles and 1 Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The assault was reported to HPD on 12/11 around 2:00 a.m. Click on the map for more detailed information. The Constable issued 1 Crime Alert concerning Package Thefts, which is a recurring problem this time of year.

We hope you and your family & friends were safe and dry during this devastating experience. Our neighborhoods were incredibly lucky and suffered minimal damage from Harvey. Once the rains let up, many of us took the opportunity to get out, walk the streets, chat with neighbors and even enjoy a meal at some of our local restaurants. It was great to see friendly faces and share experiences with neighbors and friends. It seems we all know someone who is in desperate need after the flooding and because of our good fortune, many of us had the time and means to help out. With so many ways to volunteer, we hope you have the opportunity to do your part for the communities who have suffered so much.

Pedestrians & School Traffic
HISD and most of the local schools will start back this coming Monday, September 11th. Please be on the lookout for added pedestrians heading to or returning home from school. Also, do your part to ensure safety and peace in our community by remaining patient with the increase in traffic that inevitably clogs our neighborhoods.

General Update: Reported crimes for August were low. Of the 10 reported, there were 6 thefts from vehicles, 3 thefts, and 1 breaking and entering.

General Update: Reported crimes for July were low with only 8 total incidences. HPD reported 4 Thefts from Vehicles, 1 Breaking & Entering, 2 Thefts of Vehicles, and 1 Theft. We have no specific details on the breaking & entering only that it occurred in the 1600 block of Harold. Click on the map for more detailed information.

We hope everyone had a happy and safe FOURTH
OF JULY! We have few updates concerning the Mandell Winlow Security Foundation & the Constable Patrol Program as well as our Crime Map and Activity Report for the month of June.

We’re excited to show off some new stats demonstrating the success of the Constable Patrol Program! We gathered information from HPD, Crime Reports, and the Constable’s office so you can see how effective the Program has been since it’s inception just a couple of years ago. Significant contributions have been made to the overall safety and security in our community. Burglaries, car break-ins and all types of crime were on the rise before the program was implemented, but now we’re seeing these same crime rates go down!

General Update: We had quite a spike in criminal activity compared to last month. Unfortunately this is expected in the summer months due to warmer weather. Crooks can move around more comfortably after the cold season recedes and some youthful lawbreakers have more time on their hands when school is on a break. There were a total of 10 reported crimes, including 2 home break-ins, 2 thefts of vehicles and one assault with a weapon. We should all be extra diligent in securing our homes, property, and vehicles.
